There is a new concept that is starting to become a trend in the retail business, the concept of Slow Shops. They are usually small businesses that support ethical values, businesses that bet on controlled local production to promote a conscious shopping experience, unlike large retail chains.

There are a number of Slow Shops in Barcelona. Here are some of the most interesting ones.

Green LifeStyle

Green LifeStyle is a store that sells sustainable, ethical and ecological fashion. All of the items sold in the store are produced in Europe, using natural fibers like cashmere, biologic wool and organic cotton. Green LifeStyle’s collection is comprised by tops, skirts, pants, underwear and accessories created by seven eco-friendly designers.

OSLO Barcelona

Olso Barcelona is an awesome association of artists and artisans located in the neighborhood of Gràcia, where they showcase and sell their art without any middlemen, which gives them the opportunity to offer accessible and fair prices. At Olso Barcelona you can find anything from paintings, to earrings, postcards, hats, intricate hairpieces, mugs, small furniture, candles, clothing…  a limitless amount of original articles, like the cool Wes Andersen-inspired t-shirts and bags.

Victoria Ibars Arts is both a store and a workshop by designer and ceramicist Victoria Ibars.  Victoria’s store is a great place to find one of a kind buttons and to learn some of the trades the owner masters.

Salvador Mallol

Salvador Mallol creates what he describe as “slowjewellery”, created little by little, using new materials and ingenious techniques.  Salvador Mallol’s collection includes beautiful rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces made out of materials like gold, silver, titanium, platinum and steel.

El Diluvio Universal

El Diluvio Universal is a graphic illustration and graphic design brand that has a modern art gallery. If you pay a visit to Carrer de Guilleries 3, you will not only discover a variety of paintings and illustrations, but also cool calendars, postcards and a couple of editions by El Diluvio Universal.

Bateau Lune

Bateau Lune is a wonderful store that sells unique toys. At Bateau Lune you will find toys made out of natural wood, educational toys and more, all of them made out of non-toxic products. The store also offers workshops and organizes activities for families.
